One of the behind-the-scenes ministries at Gospel Express is the
Bible study course grader network. This has been a special
source of ministry for many retirees, homemakers, families, etc.
As the Bible studies are completed by inmates, the test sheets are
forwarded to one of the approximately 200 volunteer graders
throughout the country, who then grade the tests and send them back
to the inmates, often with personal notes of encouragement. Each group of graders is assisted by a
regional volunteer Bible study course coordinator.
At the office, Nate Stoltzfus and
Freida Graber keep the grading system functioning. Freida ships materials, answers
letters, and furnishes supplies for the graders and coordinators.
Crystal Yoder engraves and ships the awards to inmates who
complete the courses.Jessica Showalter, nanny for the New Creation team
& Alana Rhodes nanny for Bygrace, also helps with the
work when they aren't on the road.
Grading Bible study courses is a wonderful opportunity to impact the
lives and hearts of inmates because this is often the only
communication many of these inmates have. Every week we
receive dozens of letters from inmates in
appreciation for correspondence and relationships that have been
established between them and their graders. The Holy Spirit
has done great things through these courses, and we give Him all the
glory. |

Romans
Bible Study Series
After
seeing the need for discipleship teaching in prisons, Gospel Express
solicited the assistance of Arlin Schrock. With his background
in prison ministry, Arlin wrote this 5-part series on the book of
Romans. It is a challenging course, and the testimonies we
receive from inmates bear witness to the anointing that is so
evident in this study. |
The
Touch of His Hand
Bible Study Series
This
series has become an old faithful as prison chaplains
continue requesting this 3-book course.
In contrast to the discipleship nature of the Romans course, The
Touch of His Hand is designed to entice even the least
interested and draw them into a non-threatening study of God's Word
center centered around the Lord's Prayer. |

We also make this New Testament available
free of charge to inmates. With 15 outlines covering
topics from "The Bible, the Word of God" to "Witnessing,"
these pocket-sized New Testaments have proven to be an
invaluable resource. New Christians eagerly devour the
scriptures with the easy-to-follow guidelines, not only for
studying, but also for understanding the "sincere milk of
the Word." Gospel Express and the Bible League in
Chicago, IL, are working together to print New Testaments
with Psalms, Proverbs, and new study outlines. |
